A 19-year-old man is facing charges after authorities say he lost control of his vehicle Tuesday, injuring a 17-year-old woman and a 1-year-old boy who were riding with him, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Investigators said an SUV, driven by Wyatt Milks of Fort Denaud was heading west on Loblolly Bay Road, in rural Glades County, at about 2:30 p.m.

The SUV went off the roadway, onto a grassy shoulder and overturned.

The woman and child were seriously injured, troopers said, while Milks received minor injuries.

After being released from the hospital, Milks was arrested and charged with driving under the influence with serious injury/property damage.

Since the child was not in a car seat, Milks was also charged with child neglect, an FHP news release said.

The crash remains under investigation.
