The Florida Highway Patrol says the traffic accident happened on County Road 309 near Browns Fish Camp Road Saturday night.
Two St. Augustine men died Saturday night after they rear-ended a pickup truck in Putnam County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The FHP crash report states that at 10:58 p.m., the pickup truck in which had seven total occupants in it, including the driver — was traveling southbound on County Road 309. The report states that the two unidentified men were also traveling southbound on County Road 309, riding an ATV and were directly behind the pickup truck.
Next, FHP says the pickup truck approached the intersection at Browns Fish Camp Road, but missed the right turn to get on the road. As a result, the report states that the truck slowed down, while the ATV the men were riding, “was unable to slow/stop in time.” The men’s ATV then rear-ended the truck, as FHP says both of them were thrown off of it and landed on the roadway.
FHP says the two men were pronounced dead at the scene while every occupant in the pickup truck, didn’t suffer any injuries in the accident. The driver of the ATV was 21 years old, while the passenger was 20 years old, according to the report.
