Undercover Jacksonville detectives found themselves in the right place at the right time while on their way to serve a search warrant.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) said that the detectives from the VICE Unit saw a serious two-vehicle crash on Collins Road, near Shindler Drive, where an SUV had flipped over.
Despite the importance of their original mission, the JSO said that the detectives immediately stopped to help and sprang into action, working to free the couple trapped inside the overturned SUV.
Officials noted that JSO Patrol Medic Brooke Mallory, who was assigned to the warrant detail for safety, utilized her medical training to assist the injured couple.
Within moments, Jacksonville Fire and Rescue arrived to provide additional care for the victims, who suffered lacerations and other injuries from the crash.
Thanks to the quick and courageous actions of the first responders, the couple received timely help.
