Unlicensed driver in fatal Miami-Dade hit-and-run crash had 2 warrants

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Miami-Dade deputies accused a 35-year-old man who had two open bench warrants of killing a man and speeding away while driving without a license.

Miguel Gonzalez appeared in court on Monday after deputies arrested him for the hit-and-run crash that killed Antonio Hernandez on Sunday at Northwest 32 Avenue and 95 Street.

After the crash at about 5:10 p.m. in the West Little River neighborhood, fire rescue personnel took Hernandez to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center where he later died, records show.

Deputies reported arresting Gonzalez after a witness was able to provide his Florida tag and a deputy found him and the damaged car at his home in the West View neighborhood, according to the arrest report.

Deputies reported that Gonzalez admitted to his involvement and a surveillance camera recorded video of “the violent crash,” according to the arrest report.

Inmate records show Gonzalez faced charges of leaving the scene of a fatal crash and causing death while driving without a license. His bond was $35,000.
