UPDATE: 22-year-old dies in Levy County ATV crash

Editor’s note: In a previous version of this story, we published that the deceased driver was a 12-year-old child. FHP originally released an erroneous press report with that information. FHP has since released an updated version of the release with the accurate age. We apologize for this mistake.

Officials with the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) said a driver died when he crashed an all-terrain vehicle, or ATV, in Levy County Sunday morning.

The press release reads that the driver was a 22-year-old male from Williston driving the ATV east on Northeast 10th Street near the Williston Municipal Airport when he failed to turn left and crashed into a tree.

Authorities pronounced the driver dead at the scene.
