A man is dead and another is in jail after a fatal shooting in Escambia County Sunday night.
The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of shots fired in the 8700-block of Rebel Acres Lane near Beulah around 10 p.m.
According to the sheriff’s office, anunidentified 40-year-old man was found dead in the yard of with a gunshot would.
The suspect, 33-year-old Dennis Herrera Canales, was taken into custody a short time later following a traffic stop. He’s charged with second-degree murder and is being held in the Escambia County Jail without bond.
The sheriff’s office saysHerrera Canales and the victim — who had been roommates at some point — got into a disagreement.
The investigation is ongoing.
