UPDATE: 38-year old man killed in Santa Rosa County crash

A 38-year-old Gulf Breeze man is dead after a crash on Wednesday in Santa Rosa County.

Troopers say the incident occurred at 12 a.m. when the 38-year-old man was traveling east in a sedan and collided with the rear of a van driven by a 68-year-old Gulf Breeze man, causing both vehicles to come to rest on the westbound side of the highway, east of Beechwood Drive.

The driver of the sedan was transported to Gulf Breeze Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to FHP.

The van’s driver was taken to the Sacred Heart freestanding ER in Navarre and released with minor injuries.

All lanes of Gulf Breeze Parkway between Beechwood Drive and Beaver Pond Road have reopened.

The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene to maintain security.

The Florida Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation into the crash.
