The U.S. Coast Guard and FWC are now handling the situation moving forward.
A water rescue is underway in Gulf Breeze Friday night for a man in his 50s, according to Santa Rosa County officials.
Alerts went out to Gulf Breeze residents just after 9:30 p.m. about a water rescue along the 1200 block of Soundview Trail. That’s the road that runs along the Sound overlooking Pensacola Beach.
Santa Rosa County officials say the man fell off a boat in the intracoastal. He was not wearing a life jacket. A caller reported the incident around 8:20 p.m.
Several agencies are in search of him. The Gulf Breeze Fire Department, Midway Fire Department and Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office are on land for the search. While, the Pensacola Fire Department, U.S. Coast Guard and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission are out on boats for search efforts.
The county says windy conditions are making the search difficult.
