A vehicle fire has shut down the southbound lanes of Florida’s Turnpike in Winter Garden.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident happened just before 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Troopers said they got a call about a semi-truck on fire on Florida’s Turnpike southbound, mile marker 272 near W Colonial Drive.
The passenger compartment of the vehicle was engulfed in flames when units arrived.
Fire crews were able to contain the fire, so the trailer was not affected. Fire is now out.
All southbound lanes were shut down at SR-50.
Drivers needing to travel south should exit Florida’s Turnpike at U.S. 27 and proceed south to SR-50 as an alternative route.
