Video shows Miami-Dade shooting that left man hospitalized, police say

Newly released surveillance video shows the moment gunfire erupted in a southwest Miami-Dade neighborhood.

Police have since arrested 25-year-old Glenn Cassis in connection to the shooting.

In the video, a white car is seen approaching the intersection of Southwest 216th Street and 120th Avenue at approximately 2:45 a.m. Sunday. The doors swing open, two people jump out of the car and shots ring out.

Quickly after, you see a black car stop behind the white one. One door opens and more shots are fired.

A different angle shows a man walking on the street just before the shooting happened. Police say it was that man who the subjects were shooting at.

Officers received multiple ShotSpotter alerts and quickly arrived to the intersection to find 33-year-old Tristum Hobbs on the ground with a gunshot wound to his back.

Authorities said he was rushed to the hospital in stable condition.

Officers at the scene said they located over 100 spent shell casings.

“There was a group of people trying to comfort the person that got hurt,” said Johneisha Jolly, who lives nearby.

She said she was awakened by bullets flying into her bedroom while she was asleep with her 1-year-old daughter.

“Like four or five shots came through my window,” said Jolly. “Once I heard that bullets started coming through, all I could do is shield my daughter.”

Police arrested Cassis later that morning after they said a detective spotted him exiting the black car seen in the video.

Jail records show Cassis faces several charges, including attempted premeditated murder, shooting or throwing a deadly missile, discharging a firearm from a vehicle and use of a firearm while committing a felony.
