Two residents escaped their home late Monday night after a fire erupted in the rear of a mobile home in Indiantown, prompting a large response from Martin County Fire Rescue.
Crews were dispatched just before 11 p.m. to SW Five Wood Way, between Four Wood Way and W Rake Drive, where arriving units found heavy black smoke and active flames pouring from the back of the structure.
According to fire officials, both occupants inside the home were able to self-evacuate before firefighters reached the scene. No civilian injuries were reported, but one firefighter was evaluated for minor smoke inhalation. The firefighter refused transport and remained on-duty.
A photo taken after the fire was extinguished showed the charred frame of the home.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, according to MCFR. Fire Prevention and the State Fire Marshal’s Office have been notified and will investigate what sparked the blaze.
A full assignment responded, including units R22, R231, R241, R242, E22, E23, E24, L33, BAT2, BAT4, EMS4, and T46. Firefighters were able to quickly bring the flames under control and prevent the fire from spreading to nearby homes.
