A wanted fugitive who was caught in Miami after he allegedly struck a woman who was working as a bartender appeared in Miami-Dade County court on Saturday.
Jose. A. Navarro-Lopez told Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Laura Shearon Cruz he and the woman were co-workers at Proof in Miami. He said he worked as a cook in the kitchen.
“They must work different shifts, but both can continue to work there,” Cruz said in court.
Records show Miami-Dade correctional officers booked Navarro-Lopez, 39, at about 6 a.m., on Friday, at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center where he remained on Saturday afternoon awaiting extradition.
Cruz denied Navarro-Lopez’s bond because of the arrest warrant out of Osceola County and set his bond on the battery charge in Miami-Dade County at $1,000. Cruz also ordered him to stay away from the victim when released.
Detectives asked anyone with information about this or other cases to call Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
