WATCH: Burglars left empty-handed after ramming SUV into Palmetto CVS to access ATM

Burglars were caught on camera ramming their vehicle into a CVS Pharmacy in an attempted robbery in Manatee County, according to police.

Around 2:20 a.m. on Wednesday, surveillance footage outside the CVS located at 945 8th Avenue West in Palmetto captured a silver Mitsubishi SUV back into the front doors of the store.

The impact shattered the glass, allowing the passenger in the SUV to enter the store.

Palmetto police said the passenger used a cable to wrap it around the ATM near the entrance, as the driver pulled forward, tearing the machine in half.

The passenger then moved the cable to the lower half of the ATM and tried to remove it, but failed. He then got back in the car and the two suspects fled the scene.

The police department said the burglars left without any money taken from the ATM.

Officials are asking for the community’s help in identifying the suspect and the vehicle. The passenger is described as a medium-to-tall individual wearing black pants, a yellow hoodie, and white cloth covering their face, and black and white sandals with white socks.

The driver never left the car, and the tag was removed from the vehicle.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Detective Richard Wilson at 941-773-6124 or Manatee County Crime Stoppers at 1-866-634-8477 or at manateecrimestoppers.com.
