An alleged DUI crashed turned into chaos at a Sarasota gas station as a driver struck several cars and a pole once deputies arrived on scene.
JD, the victim, told ABC7 that he had been struck by a vehicle, and he followed the driver to a Race Trac Gas Station where the situation continued to escalate. This happened in the overnight hours of Sunday.
D’s twin sister got married Saturday night and on his way home, driving on Fruitville, he was rear-ended at a red light. He told ABC7 that the driver who hit him sped off into the Race Trac Parking lot. D called 911 and followed the driver while taking photos of his license plates.
The situation escalated when deputies arrive on scene, with the driver backing into D’s car again, hitting a pole and the deputies’ cruisers.
D caught the entire thing on his phone.
Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office officials confirm an arrest for Driving Under the Influence but have yet to release additional details.
D told ABC7 that he thought deputies handled the situation extremely well and professionally.
The suspect has been identified as 28-year-old LD.
