Water heater explosion starts building fire in Melbourne

Nobody was injured when a building fire broke out Tuesday at El Mojito, a Cuban and Latin restaurant in Melbourne, due to a water heater explosion.

At approximately 2 p.m., the fire started in the utility closet where the water heaters are located.

Despite being a two story business, and home to other small business occupants, the business owners of El Mojito were able to call 911 quickly and first responders managed to limit the fire to a single area.

There were no reported injuries, although the building had people inside it at the time of the fire.

Melbourne Mayor Paul Alfrey took to Facebook to thank first responders for their fast response and their commitment to public safety in the community.
