Weather Authority warns South Florida boaters in small vessels to beware of wind gusts, rip currents

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel rescued a man from a small sinking boat in Biscayne Bay and there was a risk of that happening again on Thursday.

First responders found the small boat sinking at about 5:10 p.m., Wednesday near the Dinner Key Marina, at 3400 Pan American Drive, in Miami’s Coconut Grove.

On Thursday morning, the Local 10 News Weather Authority warned South Florida boaters in small crafts to beware of wind gusts.

The National Weather Center also issued a rip current statement that was in effect Thursday for coastal areas near Broward and Miami-Dade counties.

Temperatures were in the 60s before sunrise and a northeast breeze raised temperatures to the 70s, as winds continued to strengthen with gusts in the 30s on Thursday afternoon and Friday.
