Winter Springs man riding bicycle struck, killed by SUV.

A 58-year-old Winter Springs man riding his bicycle was struck and killed early Monday by an SUV, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The fatal wreck happened around 2:35 a.m. on East Lake Drive at Lakeridge Court.

According to an FHP crash report, the bicyclist was riding west on Lake Drive and the SUV was approaching from behind when it failed to stop. The front of a Nissan Rogue hit the back of the bicycle and drove off after the collision, troopers said.

The 58-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, the FHP said.

Afterward, the driver of the Nissan Rogue, a 25-year-old Casselberry man, called law enforcement and reported he may have hit something, officials said.

Troopers responded to a nearby home and observed the damage on the vehicle, taking it in as evidence, the FHP said.
