The Cape Coral fire department is investigating a house fire along Southeast 5th place.
They responded just after 7 p.m. on Saturday.
Firefighters found and rescued one person from inside the home. In a coordinated effort with Lee County EMS and LeeFlight, she was airlifted.
Firefighters also removed a dog, a cat, and a kitten from the home. Additional cats and kittens were found in a structure outside the residence. Some of these, along with the dog and cat found inside, were scared and ran away.
If you find any of them, please let Lee County Domestic Animal Services know so they can keep them, along with the cats and kittens they were able to find, safe while the family copes with this tragedy.
The fire is now out, but the cause is still under investigation.
