Woman allegedly hits cousin with baton during argument at her home

Woman allegedly hits cousin with baton during argument at her home

A Leesburg woman was arrested on a warrant for battery Thursday after allegedly hitting her cousin with a baton during an argument at her home.

On the morning of April 27, deputies with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded to a battery at 804 Montclair Rd., Leesburg, according to an affidavit of probable cause out of Lake County. Upon arrival, they found 44-year-old MDF seated outside the front door and covered in blood which seemed to be coming from her head. She appeared to be intoxicated, with slurred speech, glossy eyes and impaired movements.

F advised that her cousin was at her home having drinks when he picked up a Slap Jack baton and started hitting her. She stated these actions were unprovoked, indicating that he struck her without any reason. The affidavit noted that she refused to give a sworn written statement but wanted to press charges against her cousin.

On April 28, a detective went to F’s home regarding the altercation. She advised that both she and her cousin were in her bedroom. She was under the covers wearing a nightgown while he sat on the edge of the bed rolling a marijuana cigarette, the affidavit said.

They were talking when F’s cousin suddenly turned toward her and stated he wanted to have sex while rubbing her right leg. At that point, F jumped out of bed and shoved him, telling him he needed to leave. As they walked down the hallway, she opened a table, took out the baton and hit him in the forehead with it, the affidavit said.

F and her cousin began fighting, causing them both to fall on the ground, the affidavit said. Her cousin took the baton and started hitting her with it. The detective asked why she did not tell the deputies or the hospital of this alleged attack, and she said, “I don’t know.”

On April 29, the detective contacted F’s cousin who advised that they were in a verbal altercation turned physical over how she treated people. She got upset and struck him with an object across the head, causing him to start bleeding. He thought she was going to kill him, which was why he fought for the baton, the affidavit said.

The affidavit noted F’s cousin had a laceration that needed stitches on his forehead. He also had several cuts and scrapes on his hands and back.

F was ultimately arrested Thursday morning on a warrant charging her with aggravated battery (person uses deadly weapon). She was transported to Lake County Jail and released after posting $10,000 bond.

She was also arrested in April 24 as a DUI suspect with a 3-year-old in the backseat, in Nov. 19 for spraying a neighbor with a stolen garden hose, in March 2023 for attacking a neighbor with a broom handle and in Dec. 2021 for attacking a neighbor who complained of loud music.
