Video captured the moments a driver barreled down Bayside Veterans Park on Fort Myers Beach Friday night.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office says they responded to a car that crashed into park benches near restaurants and driving on the grass.
Janel Schoenerr, 34, was arrested and charged for DUI with property damage.
Melody King, Paradise Parties owner, said she’s never seen anything like it on Fort Myers Beach.
“My shock factor when this happened was 200%,” King said. “It was above anything that I’ve ever seen happen recently, and I just want to point that out one small incident doesn’t mean this is happening all the time.”
King said it’s a reminder to drive sober.
“That was a person, that was one choice,” King said. “That was one bad day, and what you do and who you are two different things. When you come out here to Fort Myers Beach, do not drink and drive.”
According to the town of Fort Myers Beach, everyone who was present was ok and there was minimal damage to the property.
