Alachua County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a woman after they say she used pepper spray on a group of people, including children, at the Boys & Girls Club.
According to the arrest report for SJ, 36, deputies responded to the club on Northwest 27th Avenue in Gainesville just before 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Witnesses told deputies that J released pepper spray indiscriminately into a crowd of people. One of the children sprayed was a 12-year-old boy.
J told deputies that she was trying to separate her son from an argument that she believed was going to get physical. She denied using pepper spray.
She was arrested on the charge of child abuse without great bodily harm.
