Woman arrested for stabbing Largo smoke shop worker multiple times, police say

LARGO, Fla. (WFLA)— A woman was arrested after stabbing a smoke shop worker multiple times, Largo police said.

Officers responded to a call in regards to a stabbing at the Smoke Shop located at 14111 Belcher Road just before noon on Monday.

Officers found the victim and a good Samaritan holding down the suspect, 22-year-old Yesenia Sofia Gonzalez-Aleage.

Largo police took Gonzalez-Aleage into custody and began rendering aid to the victim until paramedics arrived and transported him to the hospital with serious injuries.

The store’s surveillance footage showed Gonzalez-Aleage entering the store and asking the victim for a product located on a lower shelf. As the victim bent down to get the product, she grabbed a knife from her purse and stabbed him multiple times, Largo police said.

The victim is in stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery.

Detectives are working to determine the motive for the stabbing as the two did not know each other, police said.

Gonzalez-Aleage was arrested and charged with attempted murder in the first degree.
