Woman dead, 2 children injured after crash with tanker on Immokalee Road

A woman is dead after a three-car crash along Immokalee Road on Thursday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

According to the Florid Highway Patrol, a 47-year-old Naples woman, with two children in her SUV, was turning left from southbound Logan Boulevard onto eastbound Immokalee Road just before 9 a.m.

A fertilizer cargo tanker driven by a 52-year-old Avon Park man was headed westbound on Immokalee. Witnesses say the driver ran the red light and slammed into the SUV.

The vehicles involved hit a third vehicle, and that driver was uninjured.

The 47-year-old woman was critically injured in later died in the hospital. The two children in the SUV were also injured and taken to the hospital in unknown condition.
