Woman dead after being struck by train in Seffner.

Authorities said the woman was sitting on the tracks at the time of the crash.

SEFFNER, Fla. — A woman sitting on train tracks was struck by a train Thursday morning in Seffner, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash happened around 11:20 a.m. near the intersection of South Parsons Avenue just south of West Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard.

The woman died at the scene of the crash. Authorities do not believe there was any foul play.

“It’s heartbreaking to hear another person has lost their life on the tracks,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said. “While our detectives continue to investigate, please remember to practice safety when you are near and around a train or our county railroads.”

Both northbound and southbound Parsons Avenue were closed as detectives investigated the scene.
