A woman is dead and a man is in critical condition after a stabbing incident onTalledega Trail near a known drug house Sunday morning, according to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials say deputies initially responded to a shots fired call Sunday morning. But investigators found two victims with stab wounds.
According to the sheriff’s office, the man was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Deputies say the Narcotics Unit has responded to overdoses and served narcotics warrants for fentanyl to this house in the past.
According to the sheriff’s office, multiple people were at home when deputies arrived. There’s currently no word on what led up to this incident.
Neighbors say this house has been problematic for a while.
One woman says she sees people walking around the neighborhood, sitting on the side of the road, or panhandling.
Another woman says change needs to happen to keep everyone safe.
“We want them gone,” a neighbor said. “Who wants to live like this? It’s unfortunate that anyone has to live like this. You wake up in the morning and hear the police banging on your door because there’s a dead body down the street from your house. It’s real heartbreaking because I don’t wanna see this.”
There’s no word on any arrests so far.
