Woman dies after car catches fire in early morning crash in Putnam County: Florida Highway Patrol.

A crash early Monday morning on Huntington Shortcut Road in Crescent City claimed the life of a 24-year-old woman from Welaka, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Around 5:43 a.m., her car went off the road and hit a tree before catching fire.

FHP said she was the only person in the vehicle and she died at the scene. She was not wearing a seat belt, according to the report.

Authorities are still investigating what caused the crash.
