Woman driving wrong way on Hart Expressway dies in head-on crash: JSO

A woman died early Sunday morning in a wrong-way crash on the Hart Expressway, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

JSO Sgt. Robert Hungerford said the woman was headed east in the westbound lanes of the Hart Expressway, about half a mile west of University Boulevard, when she hit another car head-on around 1:38 a.m.

The man in the other car was listed in stable condition at the hospital. The woman died from her injuries.

This incident marks the 89th traffic fatality in Duval County this year.
