A woman was hit and killed on Interstate 75 in Alachua County early Tuesday morning.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers say a 57-year-old man from Miami was driving southbound on I-75 near mile marker 374 just after midnight.

A woman was walking in the center southbound lane when the vehicle hit her.

The woman died at the scene and the driver and passengers in the vehicle were not injured.
