Woman killed in crash on US-1 in Brevard County Saturday

Florida Highway Patrol is investigating after a two-vehicle crash left one person dead on U.S.-1 in Brevard County on Saturday.

According to FHP, the crash happened around 3:15 p.m. Saturday when a Subaru Outback exiting a parking lot from the east side of U.S.-1 entered the direct path of a Nissan Altima traveling northbound near Otter Creek Lane. The front of the Nissan hit the left side of the Subaru.

The 77-year-old woman driving the Subaru was transported to Viera Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Nissan sustained minor injuries.

There was a roadblock for several hours on U.S.-1 southbound near Otter Creek Lane after the crash.
