A 24-year-old Kissimmee woman died after her car crashed head-on into a pickup truck in Haines City on Saturday night, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
Witnesses told deputies that the two vehicles were heading in opposite directions on Hatchineha Rd., just east of Jennings Rd. N, when the woman, driving a Nissan Sentra, tried to pass the vehicle in front of her.
The truck, driven by a 30-year-old Lakeland man, was heading eastbound, and both drivers tried to swerve out of the way, PCSO said.
Both drivers went to the hospital, where the woman died from her injuries on Sunday.
The pickup truck driver suffered serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.
Hatchineha Rd. was shut down in both directions for about three hours.
PCSO is investigating the crash.
