Woman killed, man hurt when motorcycles collide into I-4 wall near Maitland, throwing them off overpass

A 25-year-old Kissimmee woman was killed and a 34-year-old Orlando man was critically injured Monday night when their motorcycles crashed into a wall and they were thrown off an I-4 overpass onto the ground below, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The fatal wreck happened around 9:10 p.m. on the I-4 east exit ramp to Maitland Boulevard.

The FHP said the woman was riding a 2003 Suzuki GSX1300RK east on I-4, and the man was riding a 2022 Kawakai ZX-6R next to her.

Both riders failed to negotiate a curve while exiting I-4 onto Maitland Boulevard and crashed into a concrete wall, the FHP said.

The man and woman were both thrown off the overpass and landed on a grassy field below, according to an FHP crash report.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.

The man was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center with critical injuries, according to the FHP report.

An investigation is ongoing.
