Woman killed, suspect in custody after hit-and-run in Little Havana: Miami Police

A woman was struck and killed in a hit-and-run in Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood early Friday morning before a suspect was taken into custody, police said.

Miami Police officials said the female pedestrian was stuck in the area of Southwest 22nd Avenue and 8th Street. She was later pronounced dead around 1:20 a.m.

The hit-and-run suspect was later found and taken into custody, and is expected to face charges, police said.

Police and fire rescue were at the scene throughout the early morning, where the victim’s body could be seen covered in a roadway. The Miami-Dade Medical Examiner later removed the body.

A few blocks away was a second scene where a BMW with a broken windshield was being looked at by officers.

Police haven’t released the identities of anyone involved or said what charges the driver faces.
