Doral police arrested a 26-year-old woman on two felony charges on Thursday in connection with an Oct. 9 road rage incident.
According to police, it started in the area of Northwest 33rd Street and 107th Avenue after a driver honked at a woman, later identified as LT, after she cut him off in a Penske rental truck.
Police said that led to a verbal dispute in which T, of northwest Miami-Dade, “brandished a tan-colored handgun and pointed it in his direction.”
Authorities said the man began recording the interaction and, in the video, T “can be heard using profanities and throwing a bottle at the driver’s door where (the victim) was seated.”
An arrest report states that T then “exited the Penske truck, approached his driver-side window, reached inside the (victim’s) vehicle and poked him in his right eye” and then fled.
Authorities said police were able to identify T after processing a still frame from the man’s video through facial recognition software. They said he picked her out of a photo lineup.
“That’s her,” the report states he said after seeing Turner’s picture.
Police said they saw the Penske truck in the area of Northwest 72nd Avenue and 25th Street on Thursday, saw T driving, then pulled her over.
“Once detained, (T) stated that she needed her personal belongings from inside the truck,” the report states. “With consent, the defendant allowed this detective to retrieve her belongings, which included a firearm.”
That gun matched the victim’s description, police said.
Authorities said Turner made several confessions at Doral police headquarters. Those were redacted from the report.
Police arrested her on charges of burglary with assault or battery and aggravated assault with a firearm and Miami-Dade Judge Mindy Glazer found probable cause to charge her Friday morning.
“You better be calm driving,” Glazer warned Turner in court. “Because if you get arrested for anything else, you will be locked up in jail until your trial.”
She later added that burglary with assault or battery “is a crime punishable by life in prison if the state wants to pursue that.”
As of Friday afternoon, she was being held in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $10,000 bond.
