A semi-truck driver fell asleep behind the wheel, causing an early morning crash with injuries in Clay County on US Highway 301.
The 35-year-old semi-truck driver was approaching County Road 218 while traveling north on US 301 on Wednesday, just before 5 a.m.
A 35-year-old woman driving a sports utility vehicle was stopped at a red light in the left lane on US 301 when the truck driver, who had fallen asleep, ran into the back of the SUV, according to FHP.
The impact pushed the vehicles into the median, causing the semi to run into a power pole.
The truck driver suffered minor injuries. The woman was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
