Winter Haven police are searching for information on a stabbing that left a 26-year-old woman dead on Friday night.
Just before midnight, the police department responded to a stabbing call in the construction area behind the old Banyon Beach motel, at 1630 6th Street Northwest off of Highway 17.
A witness told officials the victim got into an argument with an unidentified man, who struck the woman several times. The victim then began screaming, saying she was stabbed.
Police said the witness ran to the victim, and then to find someone to call 911, as the suspect fled southbound.
While in transit to a nearby hospital, the woman died from her injuries.
