A work van burst into flames on Thursday afternoon in Palm City, prompting a response from firefighters.

Martin County Fire Rescue (MCFR) said that crews responded to the vehicle fire near Southwest Green Farms Lane and Southwest Martin Highway at 1:30 p.m.

Officials said that the driver was the only person in the van and started to smell smoke, then pulled over.

Despite the driver’s quick thinking, the front right tire of the van caught fire and quickly spread throughout the vehicle, per MCFR.

The fire involved a company work van with a single occupant. The driver acted quickly, pulling over after smelling smoke. Unfortunately, the front right tire caught fire, and flames rapidly spread through the vehicle.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
