Wounded victim arrives at hospital after shooting in Opa-locka

OPA-LOCKA, Fla. – Police are investigating after a shooting Tuesday afternoon in Opa-locka and a victim later arrived at a local trauma center.

Opa-locka police said officers responded to the 2000 block of Lincoln Avenue around 12:50 p.m. following reports of gunfire and a vehicle fleeing the scene at high speed.

Shortly after, hospital staff notified authorities that a gunshot victim had arrived at Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center.

Sky 10 flew over the scene where a police officer was talking to a man outside of a home in the area.

Opa-locka detectives said they were investigating the scene and went to the hospital to gather more information.

Police have not released additional details about the victim or a person or persons of interest.
