COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. —
One person is confirmed dead and one person was arrested on a DUI manslaughter charge after a crash on southbound Interstate 75 in Collier County on Wednesday morning.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, troopers are investigating a three-vehicle crash on southbound I-75 at Mile Marker 110.
The FHP said a vehicle was driving the wrong way, going northbound on southbound I-75.
Two other vehicles were traveling southbound on I-75 when Taylor crashed into them.
One of the drivers, a 96-year-old man, died from injuries sustained in the crash.
The other driver, a 57-year-old man, sustained “non-incapacitating injuries” and was transported to a hospital.
Taylor sustained minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital. After being released from the hospital, she was placed under arrest.
Taylor faces a charge of DUI manslaughter.
Traffic was backed up for more than 10 miles along southbound I-75 as roads were closed between the Immokalee Road exit and the Pine Ridge Road exit. The southbound lanes of I-75 have reopened.
