Yacht becomes engulfed in flames while docked in Fort Lauderdale

A 47-foot yacht was seriously damaged in a fire Friday morning, Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue officials confirmed.

According to firefighters, multiple people called 911 just before 7 a.m. to report that a boat was on fire along the 1100 block of Cordova Road.

Firefighters arrived within six minutes and found the yacht fully engulfed in flames.

According to firefighters, they used both water and foam to extinguish the flames. It took them about 20 minutes to do so.

First responders said it does not appear that anyone was onboard the boat when the fire started.

No injuries were reported.

A fire investigator is at the scene working to determine the cause of the blaze.
