A 20-year-old motorcyclist from Palm City was killed in a crash involving a car and a truck late Tuesday night.
The Port St. Lucie Police Department (PSLPD) said the deadly collision occurred at around 10:20 p.m. at the intersection of S U.S. Highway 1 and SE Crosstown Parkway.
Police said NM, 20, was riding a 2023 BMW motorcycle northbound on S US Hwy 1 with a group of other motorcyclists. As the group merged into the turn lanes to head westbound onto SE Crosstown Parkway, M attempted to cross from the outside lane to the left turn lanes but failed to yield the right of way to a 2013 Honda traveling in the center lane.
According to the crash report, the motorcycle sideswiped the Honda, ejecting M into the path of a 2022 GMC pickup truck. The GMC struck M, who was wearing a helmet, police said.
M sustained serious injuries and was transported to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:45 p.m.
The driver of the Honda, a 40-year-old woman from Stuart, and the driver of the GMC, a 36-year-old man from Port St. Lucie, were uninjured, police said.
PSLPD said there is no indication of impairment or excessive speed by any of the drivers involved. The crash remains under investigation.
