A multiple-vehicle crash on the Palmetto Expressway near Gratigny Parkway left one person trapped inside a vehicle Tuesday morning, according to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials.

Authorities said firefighters extricated at least one driver from the vehicle.

They said that driver was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center for treatment. His or her age, identity and condition were not immediately released.

The westbound Gratigny was closed from Northwest 57th Avenue to the Palmetto Expressway as authorities investigated the crash.

Drivers were advised to use alternate routes, as traffic heading toward the Palmetto was forced off the Gratigny parkway.

Authorities have not released additional information about what led to the crash.
