75-year-old man dies after dump truck and car collide on State Road 82 in Collier County

One person has died after a dump truck and a sedan collided along State Road 82 near Corkscrew Road in Collier County Monday evening.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, State Road 82 was closed in both directions at Corkscrew Road (County Road 850) as troopers responded to the crash.

FHP said a 75-year-old Lehigh Acres man was driving a Nissan when he attempted to make a left turn from Corkscrew Road onto westbound State Road 82 as the dump truck was heading east on the road. According to the FHP report, the 75-year-old man turned in front of the approaching dump truck, and the two vehicles collided.

The 75-year-old man was transported to an area hospital and was later pronounced dead. The driver of the dump truck, a 60-year-old Lehigh Acres man, was not injured in the crash, according to FHP.

FHP said the crash is under investigation.
