One person is dead and one is hospitalized after a crash between an electric scooter and a vehicle in Miami, according to Miami Police Department officials.
The incident took place at SW 22nd Avenue and 21st Street where Miami Police officers responded to the scene early Sunday morning.
The scooter appears to have slammed into the side of the SUV, breaking its rear view mirror, while one the victims shattered the windshield on impact.
According to Miami Fire Rescue, a male and female victim were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center in critical condition.
Officials say one victim later succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.
7News cameras captured a Miami Police vehicle at the scene, with the area blocked off by crime scene tape.
They also showed the scooter on the street, as well as the damaged red vehicle.
The driver stayed on the scene.
An investigation into the cause of the crash is currently ongoing.
