Mercedes fled scene after killing motorcyclist, St. Pete police say

The St. Petersburg Police Department is searching for a driver who fled the scene of a fatal crash early Sunday morning.

At around 1:10 a.m., a 65-year-old Pinellas Park man was riding a motorcycle down 4th Street North when a car turned westbound onto 9th Avenue North in front of him, causing a crash, SPPD said.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital where he died of his injuries.

The car that struck him, a dark-colored Mercedes SUV, fled westbound on 9th Avenue.
