A woman was hospitalized after a house fire broke out on Apollo Drive in Lee County on Thursday afternoon.
According to the Fort Myers Fire Department, the woman was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation, and at least one person was in the home when the fire started. She also attempted to put out the fire from within the home, according to FMFD.
Neighbors told Gulf Coast News they heard a propane tank explode.
The fire department said around 90% of the home was damaged.
The Tice Fire & Rescue District also responded to the fire and said the high winds contributed to the rapid spread of the fire.
Lee County EMS was also at the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
