TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A small plane veered off the runway, hit a sign and flipped upside down after landing at Peter O. Knight Airport on Thursday.

The incident happened around 3:30 p.m. at the airport, which is located a few minutes from downtown Tampa on Davis Islands. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said two people were on board the Maule M-7 aircraft.

According to officials, one of the occupants was taken to Tampa General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The other person was not injured.

News Channel 8 viewer Rick Dalechek sent in photos of the small plane lying in the grass at the airport. Multiple first responders could be seen near the area.
