1 injured when car slams into Daytona Beach streetlight

One person was seriously injured Wednesday morning when a car crashed into a street light in Daytona Beach, fire officials said.

The wreck happened around 5:40 a.m. at Mason and Dunn avenues.

Daytona Beach fire officials said the victim was extracted from the car and taken to a hospital as a trauma alert patient.

“Heavy extrication was needed to remove the patient,” DBFD posted on X. “The patient was awake, but deemed a trauma alert due to the extent of the crash.”

Photos shared by DBFD show heavy damage to the car, which was then cut apart so crews could get the victim out.
