1 killed in overnight fire at Pace home, investigation underway

One person was killed in an overnight fire in Pace.

The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office says authorities responded around 2:15 a.m. Monday to a structure fire on Caden Court, which is in a neighborhood off N Spencer Field Road.

“When deputies arrived, the residence was fully engulfed and inaccessible,” deputies say in a release. “Nearby homes were evacuated for precaution.”

Pace Fire Rescue extinguished the fire and then conducted a search of the home.

“During the search, a single occupant was located inside and pronounced deceased on scene,” deputies say.

The Major Crimes Unit and Fire Marshal are currently investigating the incident.

No further details have been released, including the cause of the fire or the identity of the victim.
