1 person arrested after fire erupts at historic Fort Myers home.

One person was arrested after a historic downtown Fort Myers home became engulfed in flames Thursday night.

NBC2 was at the scene off Third Street near Park Avenue where firefighters were battling the fire.

According to the Fort Myers Fire Department, the home has been around since the early 1900’s and one person lurking in the area was detained.

Anthony Vuolo, 37, was arrested and charged with first degree arson.

Two supporting structures also caught fire and a camper van was destroyed.

No one is believed to be hurt at this time.

The fire is suspicious and remains under investigation by the Fire Marshal at this time.
