An 11-year-old girl was hit by a dirt bike rider who was being pursued by police, and now a Miami Beach commissioner says he’s fed up with the alleged offenders.

The incident took place on Saturday along Ocean Drive.

Surveillance video obtained by 7News shows how it all began. A group began gathering n Collins Avenue minutes before the incident.

Additional video, provided by Sherbrook Hotel owner Mitch Novick, shows what police said are bikers “riding recklessly within the Art Deco Cultural District.”

The bikers are seen zooming northbound in the southbound lanes, two with women in front of the non-street-legal bikes.

After concerned citizens began to call 911, police said they tracked the bikers to the 700 block of Ocean Drive.

When officers arrived, they noticed bikers stopped in the bike lanes, prompting them to approach on foot.

But when the bikers noticed them approaching, officers said, they decided to flee.

However, detectives caught up to W. The “rest of the dirt bike riders fled,” according to the arrest report.

Investigators said one of the bikers who fled began driving on the sidewalk and struck the young girl.

Police said the girl suffered minor injuries from the crash, but the bike driver kept going despite the impact.

Witness C described what he saw at the scene.

“‘Zooooom!’ Like this and just took off, ya know?” he said. “No consideration for the people that were there!”

Following this latest incident, Miami Beach Commissioner S told 7News he’s tired of stunt bikers repeatedly committing crimes over many years.

“This is a public safety nightmare in Miami Beach, unfortunately, and it’s a nightmare that keeps coming back,” he said. “Terrorize our city to the point where they are injuring 11-year-old children.”

Video shows W blue bike on the ground as he was taken to jail. The bike was later towed away.

Now, witnesses said they hope there is change soon.

“I feel bad for the girl,” C said. “Something has to be done about that.”

W faces multiple charges, including reckless driving and stunt driving. Court records show he had an outstanding warrant for drag racing.
